Join us to understand the implications and opportunities of various passports for real estate, featuring hands-on case studies and discussions on challenges and solutions in the field.
With new regulations looming, the need for more data and overcoming silo-thinking in construction and real estate is growing. Currently, building management involves handling vast amounts of unstructured and often paper-based data. This issue is set to become even more critical already next year. Therefore, new approaches for data storage and sharing across the value chain—from construction through operation to end-of-life—is essential.
Passports for materials, renovation, and even soil are seen as the solution. The building renovation passport is now included in the updated Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, and regulations for Digital Product Passports (DPP) are under consideration.
Size of Challenge
Over 220 million buildings in the EU require data management solutions
Scope of Challenge
Encompasses the entire lifecycle of buildings from construction to demolition
Involves integrating data from various stakeholders including contractors, owners, and facility managers
Within this challenge ‘passports’ can be used as a metaphor for these data models - from materials to product to potentially building passports + they will draw on frameworks like Energy Labels, Electronic Produc Declarations and Lifecycle Assessment Calculations
Some Key Deadlines
The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive is heavily data-reliant - and went into force May 2024
with tightening requirements in the years to come
The Commission’s regulation on Digital Product Passports for the construction sector is expected by 2026.
And a Renovation Passport is also expected in 2026
