Tradition, Innovation, and the Role of AI
Insights from Nordic PropTech Awards sponsor Coor with Anders Kjellerup, Business Unit President, Property & Soft, in conversation with PropTech Denmark’s Communications Lead, Stine Grønnegaard.
We are very happy to have Coor as a partner for the Nordic PropTech Awards 2025. Catching up with Anders Kjellerup, Business Unit President, Property & Soft at Coor, we delved into bridging the gap between tradition and innovation, why proptech solutions are crucial for a future proof business, and – not least – the ultimate dream scenario for the future of proptech.
Bridging the Gap with Proptech
On behalf of the four Nordic proptech associations, thank you for partnering with Nordic PropTech Awards once again – and for this talk, Anders. As a sponsor of Nordic PropTech Awards 2025, you have the opportunity to see and engage with some of the most innovative tech solutions available today. In your view, what role does proptech play in the real estate industry today, and how do you see it evolving in the future?
Proptech is revolutionising the real estate sector by leveraging digital tools to both improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance user experiences. Today, proptech solutions play a vital role in areas like property management, construction, and sales through smart buildings, digital property valuations, digital transactions, and virtual tours.
Looking ahead, proptech will be a key enabler in transforming the real estate industry by ensuring secure, fast, and seamless data transactions. We are already seeing AI being applied to predictive analytics in property investments and predictive maintenance in asset management, as well as sustainability-focused innovations such as smart energy management.
Ultimately, I think, proptech will continue to bridge the gap between traditional real estate and the tech-driven, data-rich future, making the sector more transparent, accessible, and efficient.
Supporting Innovation for the Future
Coor has supported Nordic PropTech Awards since the beginning – a continuous support of the wider Nordic proptech community that is obviously highly valuable for the startup ecosystem. Why is this equally important to you?
Coor believes in the power of transformation & innovation, supporting our customers' journey to be as efficient, sustainable, and smart as possible in all aspects.
Supporting the Nordic PropTech Awards is a way to recognise and celebrate the proptech community and not least the startups who support us all on that journey. The Nordic region has long been a hub of innovation, and proptech is a space that can further elevate it as a global leader in sustainable, efficient, and user-friendly real estate solutions.
It's important to support this community because the future of real estate will be shaped by those who drive these innovations. By backing this recognition, we can help inspire the next generation of tech-forward solutions that will have a lasting impact on the built environment.
Partnerships for Increased Sustainability
Supporting the solutions that can support a sustainable business development makes absolute sense. And speaking of solutions; from over 100 nominees within 6 different tracks for the 2025 awards, we covered a wide array of innovative solutions. But what opportunities with proptech and real estate are you most excited about?
To me, one of the most exciting opportunities in proptech is the focus on sustainability. As climate change becomes an urgent global issue, technologies that reduce energy consumption, improve building materials, and monitor environmental impacts are crucial.
I’m particularly excited about innovations on how we can make asset management much more proactive, on the effects on indoor climate, people efficiency, and well-being. A centralised solution that can take all data and make it simple for use, analytics, automation, and business case decision making is the dream scenario.
At Coor, we’re actively seeking partnerships with proptech startups and companies that focus on these areas to bring more sustainable solutions to market.
Challenge Yourselves – and your Stakeholders
There certainly are a lot of challenges to tackle going forward. Which ones are keeping you awake at night? And how would you like to see the industry address them?
The biggest challenge by far is climate change – and add to that our outdated infrastructure and buildings. The real estate industry is facing a pressing need to retrofit old buildings, optimise energy efficiency, and ensure that new developments are more sustainable.
In addition, there’s a need to bridge the gap between traditional construction methods and new proptech technology. To address these challenges, the industry needs to invest more in green technologies, adopt digital tools for better data-driven decision-making, and support further collaboration between tech innovators and traditional real estate developers.
It's not just about building smarter, but about managing the existing building portfolio responsibly and with a long-term focus on sustainability.
With that, thank you again for sharing your insights, Anders. We are looking so much forward to seeing you at the Nordic PropTech Awards 2025 finals in Copenhagen on March 6th!
